Cupid's Undie Run - a great way to celebrate Valentine's Day!

I was one of the event photographers at the Cupid's Undie Run at Brittania Arms in Downtown San Jose on Saturday, February 15th. Wanted to post these videos on my blog, to show how much fun people have at the event!  It's a great cause, benefiting the Children's Tumor Foundation. Hooman, Brynn, and Uzette from Alice were there, giving away an awesome guitar and holding the costume contest. There was a raffle as well.  If you have never signed up, you should check it out! You can see more on Facebook, HERE.

Other pics can be seen HERE.

The photos I took can be viewed by clicking HERE.

And you can bookmark THIS SITE to register for next year : )

Congratulations to all the runners, fundraisers, volunteers, sponsors, and all the staff at Brittania Arms for making this an event to remember! Special thanks to Debbie for inviting me to photograph this event, and for all your hard work.

Here are the videos (ok please excuse the NON HD Video... I was only able to bring my little point and shoot!):

OK so I'm going to take this moment to publicly apologize to Debbie, for the fact that me and another volunteer ripped up way too many raffle tickets, after hearing someone say there were 500 in the whole roll (I want to blame it on sleep deprivation processing boudoir photos for Valentine's Day, but really, I should have been able to tell there were more like 5,000). So this will explain why she had to call so many numbers before a winning number surfaced! Eeek! Sorry Debbie, that was my bad! : D

How to get 10% Off Your Session!

I just had some 10% off postcards printed through PS Print in Oakland, and I have to say, they did a beautiful job! The cards were printed on recycled paper and I couldn't be happier with them. They always have a very fast turnaround time and do excellent work.

The 10% discount is good through the year 2014. I don't know if you feel that the years are just passing by faster and faster, but I sure do. It seems like 2013 went by in a blink... I swear, when I was watching the New Year's eve countdown with Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin this year, it felt like it was just yesterday when I was ringing in 2013.  So all this to say - if you're going to book a session, don't wait too long, because 2014 is going to be gone before you know it!

Anyway, to get the 10% discount, you can:

1) Go to Facebook and "Like" Tigerlily Boudoir. Then just send me a private message to book your session and mention the discount.

Or,

2) Pick up a card in person at one of these locations (click on the name for a link to their business page on Yelp). I will be addiing more soon.

Hair & Makeup Tutorials - For Tigerlily Boudoir Clients who choose not to hire a stylist

I can be a little control freaky about doing my own hair and makeup. I'm not saying I don't enjoy being pampered, but sometimes, I just prefer to do my own styling. I am so used to having beachy, windblown hair, that sometimes it just looks funny to me, to be too glammed up.

That being said... when I am working with someone who knows how to do a really professional looking job on their own hair and makeup, it really does make a difference in their photos. As an example, false eyelashes may appear unnecessary, but when you look at them in photos, they really do make a person's eyes POP, in a photograph. Especially in boudoir photographs!

The bottom line is, you have to feel comfortable with the way you look and feel. If you would really, truly prefer to do your own hair and makeup, I'm okay with that, but just know that once the photos are taken, it can get very expensive to add "photoshop makeup" later!

I learned a few tips from YouTube, and wanted to share them with my other clients, in the event that you are having a session without a makeup artist. My goal is to make these sessions affordable for women, but sometimes that will mean you will end up doing your own makeup!

You could go on YouTube and find a ton of other tutorials, but I just picked out a few for this blog.

Enjoy!

How to curl your hair (the Kim Kardashian look)

Btw there are far more "how to curl" and "how to style" your hair, videos, on YouTube, than this one. So if the Kim Kardashian look is not your thing, just click on the "youtube" icon on the video and you will see lots more videos pop up on the right (you probably already know this but... I'm just sayin'... )

I may post some more videos later, but this is what I have for now.

Hope you enjoyed them!

Be in my Music Video!

OK so this idea may sound a little nuts, but I really want to do this.

Yesterday I was looking for some background music to add to my boudoir site, and after going through a few samples of various ambient tracks, I came across this tune... that sent me into a fit of the giggles. I called my friend Laurie and played it for her over the phone, and we were both laughing so hard, we were almost in tears.

She said, jokingly, "So, are you gonna use it?" And I said, well, it's such a memorable tune, that now I feel compelled to use it somehow!

Today I started thinking it would be hysterical to make a short music video out of it, like the Olympics and US Marines' versions of "Call me Maybe" (if you haven't already seen these videos, just look below). For some reason, I just got this funny vision of a bunch of girls, dancing around and being goofy and lipsyncing to the song. It could be funny and tongue in cheek, but also a really fun marketing tool for my business. I want to convey a spirit of women laughing and having a great time!

I'm thinking the video will probably take a few months to create - it would depend on how many people I could get to do this. I am not in a rush to make the video, and may just end up asking clients if they'd be interested in participating, either for the fun of it (maybe after a few glasses of champagne!) or for a discount on a package. But it sure would be fun to get it going this weekend.

Just let me know if you're interested!

Note: If the Marines' video doesn't play below, just click the link to View on YouTube.

Jessica - a surprise Valentine's Day gift for her boyfriend!

I had a great time working with Jessica, who gave me a great testimonial, which I'm posting on the bottom of this page (thank you again, Jessica!!). It was a lot of fun to take these photos. Jessica has a really vibrant, playful personality that really shined in her photographs. As you can probably tell from the photos, she was a lot of fun to work with!

Theresa - A surprise gift for her fiancee!

I was very fortunate to have Teresa as my first boudoir subject. Not only is she a beautiful subject, but she did an impeccable job with her own hair and makeup! She also knew how to pose well. We were able to take these photos in her home. I love it that we were able to take these photos in a setting where she felt comfortable and natural. They came out better than I could have hoped for.

Thanks again Theresa for a great day!

Welcome to Tigerlily Boudoir!

Hi, my name is Laura and I am excited to bring you Tigerlily Boudoir for Women!

I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to take some beautiful photographs of amazing women, and am looking forward to expanding my business in 2014.

I want women to remember their sessions as being fun and playful, yet I want them to feel really confident! I have been told by many women that, after a session with me, their self esteem and confidence has really improved. That is the best compliment a photographer could ask for!

I am looking forward to bringing great photographs to women in the bay area in 2014. Thanks for stopping by my blog!
